“This debate exemplifies two very fundamental American values, which have always been issues for the parks,” Kelly said. “One is preservation and the other is economic exploitation. That’s a good pressure to have, that’s a good tension.”
Kinder said he “could not agree more heartily. We are setting it for 11 a.m. to have people come from surrounding areas.”
What this is all about is whether the Ozark National Scenic Riverways should be controlled by the federal or state government.
Kinder, a Republican, believes the award winning state park system, can manage the park better than the federal government.
Kelly, a Democrat, defaults to the usual leftist belief that everything is better when it’s centrally planned and controlled. Therefore, Kelly believes Washington, DC should manage a park in Missouri.
