Date Set for OSNR Debate

The two veteran politicians will meet on the steps of the Shannon County Courthouse, with alternative sites being discussed in case of rain, Kinder said Friday.

“This debate exemplifies two very fundamental American values, which have always been issues for the parks,” Kelly said. “One is preservation and the other is economic exploitation. That’s a good pressure to have, that’s a good tension.”

Kinder said he “could not agree more heartily. We are setting it for 11 a.m. to have people come from surrounding areas.”

What this is all about is whether the Ozark National Scenic Riverways should be controlled by the federal or state government.

Kinder, a Republican, believes the award winning state park system, can manage the park better than the federal government.

Kelly, a Democrat, defaults to the usual leftist belief that everything is better when it’s centrally planned and controlled.  Therefore, Kelly believes Washington, DC should manage a park in Missouri.

The Shannon County Courthouse is in Eminence, Missouri.
