HJR 19—Obamacare Go Home Bill

Posted: March 11, 2013 in Healthcare/Obamacare

March 11, 2013

Obamacare isn’t even even in full force yet, and it’s knocking smaller insurance companies out of business, causing insurance rates to skyrocket, and putting businesses in moral dilemmas.

And it’s going to get worse. Read the report by insurance broker and long time Obamacare fighter, James Coyne, at the end of this email.

Fortunately, guys like Rep. Kurt Bahr and a couple of dozen of his fellow cosponsors, are continuing to work toward making it easier for Missourians to reject Obamacare. HJR 19 is an amendment to the Missouri Constitution that makes personal choice in health care decisions an “inherent right”. This amendment is the logical follow-up to Prop C, passed by 72% of Missouri voters in August of 2010.

The idea is to pit a state constitutional right against the mere federal statute that is Obamacare.

PLEASE! Help us tell our state legislators that “We have not yet begun to fight!” Come to the hearing or at least fill out an online witness form right now. (See the link in green, below.)

For liberty,

A message about HJR 19 from James Coyne:

Why is HJR 19 important and what you can do to help it become part of the Missouri Constitution?

The full force of Obamacare will come crashing down on us in 2014. I anticipate a major crisis in health care with costs spiraling out of control. Our state must have the legal framework to take back control of our health care.

To anyone that thinks the health care debate is over – it is just beginning.
In 2014:

  • Every non grandfathered individual and group health insurance plan will be forced to change to a new compliant plan.
  • Everyone will be approved for insurance regardless of health conditions or prior coverage and there will be one huge risk pool.
  • 21 new taxes on health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, medical device makers etc. will go into effect.

In reality there will no longer be health insurance but rather a new middle class welfare program that promises to pay from around 50% up to 100% of the premiums for anyone making under 400% of the poverty level. That’s an annual income of 46 K for an individual and 93K for a family of four.

For sure, not poor folks. Many in the industry predict a rate explosion, particularly in the individual market, of 50 to 200% — and that will eclipse the subsidies most people get from the government.

We must be ready with an alternate vision of free people and free markets – claiming that right will require establishing that right in our constitution. HJR 19 , along with Prop. C passed in 2010, will give us the tools to fight Obamacare,

HJR 19 has a hearing before the house committee on Health Care Policy, This Wed. March 13th, at 12 P.M. in house meeting room 6 (basement of capitol by the cafe). Fill out a testimony form for the hearing (link, above) ,or better yet come in person if you can.

You can also contact of the committee, and politely ask that they pass this bill out of committee with all haste
